What it is
Minisforum’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395 mini workstation. 16 Zen 5 cores, Radeon 8060S (40 RDNA 3.5 CUs), 64GB or 128GB of soldered LPDDR5X-8000, dual M.2, dual 10GbE, dual USB4 v2 (80 Gbps), Wi-Fi 7, and a full-length PCIe x16 mechanical slot limited to PCIe 4.0 x4. Built-in 320W PSU. Same Strix Halo silicon as the Framework Desktop and GMKtec EVO-X2, in a slightly larger box aimed at desk or 2U rack use. This page is the 128GB machine unless noted.
Who it is for
People who want a 24B–70B local model, dual 10GbE, and a PCIe expansion path on the same desk as a real Windows PC. Wrong if your tools assume CUDA, if you need full x16 GPU bandwidth, or if you thought the PCIe slot was a free discrete-GPU upgrade.
What it actually runs
- Comfortable: 24B–32B dense at usable speed on the iGPU.
- Possible: 70B-class dense and larger MoE if you buy 128GB and accept that ~256 GB/s is the limiter. Owners report usable ~5 tok/s class on Llama 70B Q4 and higher rates on smaller models via ROCm / llama.cpp. Capacity is the win. Decode is not.
- Not the win: training, CUDA-only stacks, or turning the x4 PCIe slot into a full-speed 5090 workstation. Ignore vendor “126 TOPS” and “2.2× RTX 4090” slides.

- Price snapshot 31 Aug 2026, Minisforum US store: 64GB + 2TB $2,599 (sale from ~$3,249); 128GB + 2TB $3,799 (sale from ~$4,749). Amazon and other channels have tracked in the ~$2,900–$3,700 range for 128GB configs. Stock and list prices move.
- Memory is soldered LPDDR5X-8000 on a 256-bit bus (~256 GB/s). Up to 96GB can be allocated to the iGPU. Pick 128GB now or do not buy this for large models.
- Dual 10GbE and dual USB4 v2 are the real differentiators versus sealed Strix Halo minis that ship 2.5GbE and older USB4.
- PCIe x16 slot is mechanical full-length but electrically PCIe 4.0 x4. Useful for NICs, storage, or modest accelerators. Not a free path to a full discrete GPU.
- Cooling claims 130W sustained / 160W peak with copper base, six heat pipes, dual fans. Chassis supports vertical desk or horizontal 2U rack orientation. Slide-out tray for the board.
- Same chip class as Framework and EVO-X2. Buy this for the networking and the slot; buy Framework if you want to open the box later; buy EVO-X2 if you want the smaller sealed form factor.
Honest verdict
Buy the 128GB MS-S1 MAX if you want Strix Halo with dual 10GbE and a limited PCIe slot near current street prices. Skip the 64GB config for this job. Same bandwidth ceiling as every other Max+ 395 box. If you want repairability, get Framework Desktop. If you want CUDA, shop Spark / GX10.
